Sandwich History

he Chicago Style Italian Beef Sandwich originated in the early 1920's. Italian immigrants introduced this sandwich as a symbol of prosperity after the Great Depression. The meat was slow cooked for tenderness and dipped in a juice gravy to enhance the taste. It became popular at weddings due to the meat being sliced thin which allowed for more guests to be fed.

About Us

Mike Aldridge is the owner of Beef It Up Chicago-Style Sandwich Shop and is excited to bring this amazing sandwich to the East Coast! Mike grew-up on the West Side of Chicago, but moved to Delaware at the age of twenty. Since childhood, Mike always dreamt of opening his own Chicago-Style Sandwich shop. For five years, he craved the sandwich until he couldn't take it anymore and learned to make it himself! With the help of his father Mike Sr., they perfected the sandwich and made it available to the public in Delaware.
